Health Topics
Section titled “Health Topics”Health Topics provide evidence-informed summaries of diseases, health conditions and important determinants of health. Each topic synthesises the current scientific evidence together with practical guidance to support informed decision making by individuals, healthcare professionals, researchers and communities.
Within the Practice Knowledge System, health conditions are viewed not only as diseases requiring diagnosis and treatment but also as opportunities for prevention, health creation and improved LifeQuality.
Each Health Topic seeks to answer five fundamental questions:
- What is the condition?
- Why does it matter?
- What does the best available evidence show?
- What evidence-based options are available?
- How can people, professionals and communities work together to improve health and LifeQuality?
Health Topics are continuously updated as new evidence becomes available and are linked to related interventions, evidence summaries, patient resources and research priorities.
